Petition for Paper Ballots

We are of the belief that this country needs to do what most of the free world has done. We must remove all machine counting of ballots from all elections, be it city, county, state or federal elections. We believe that the only transparent election is one where the counting of ballots is done at a pace where any literate person can observe the counting of ballots in his or her precinct and verify that the counting officials did their job correctly and that the results are correct.

We believe that it is wrong for a person, group, government official or company to count votes in a manner that does not allow for the opportunity of the average voter to verify that the collecting, counting and storage of ballots is done in a fair and non partisan manner. Without this kind of transparency voters have no reason to believe that their vote matters.

In our opinion, there is no reason to register voters or, for that matter, to vote if we are going to be forced to have machines count our votes.
